Singapore

Singapore, one of only three independent city-states in the world (together with Monaco and Vatican), has to be one of the coolest spots in Asia: a highly-developed hi-tech society, which is clean, visitor friendly and full of attractions, parks and gardens.

There's so much stuff to see and do, that this brief text wouldn't do justice to a Singapore trip. The holiday island of Sentosa with its beaches, parks, shows and loads of attractions is a must-see (don't miss the butterfly garden and the giant Merlion, the national symbol of Singapore).

Get on top of the spectacular Marina Bay Sands for nice views of the city and of the impressive Port of Singapore and check out the fabulous Gardens by the Bay. Head over to Little India, China Town or Arab Street to get closer to Asian culture, do your shopping on the famous Orchard Road (Singapore is a shopper's paradise, the number and size of shopping malls is impressive) and end your day at Chijmes.

Other must not miss attractions include the Botanic Gardens (don't miss the spectacular Orchid Garden) and Singapore Zoo, each counting as some of the finest in the world. In the evening go to Clarke Quay to unwind and make plans for the following day.

One of the coolest things to do in Singapore is the Southern Ridges Walk, a spectacular walk through some of Singapore's parks: follow the sign to the Maranga trail from Exit D of MRT station Harbourfront, and then signs to Faber Walk, Henderson Waves, Hilltop Walk, Forest Walk, Alexandra Arch, Floral Walk and Canopy Walk; continue through Kent Ridge Park and find your way to Kent Ridge MRT station to get back to the city.

The food is excellent in Singapore and the MRT metro network makes most of the city's sights and attractions easily accessible.
