Sweden

In Sweden I visited the cities of Stockholm and Gothenburg. Stockholm is an impressive city with many historical buildings and countless islands. I visited the islands of Skeppsholmen and Kastellet, and explored a bit of the Stockholm Archipelago on a wooden boat cruise which was nice.

Other points of interest included the old town (Gamla Stan), the beautiful Stockholm Cathedral, the Viking Museum and the fascinating Vasa Museum (which hosts the beautifully preserved Vasa, a 17th century battle ship which sank on its maiden voyage after sailing for only 1.3 km). At the Royal Palace I watched the 45-minute long change of the guard. Stockholm also offers good food, including Swedish meatballs and delicious pastry desserts, and lots of shopping opportunities.

Gothenburg is a nice and quiet city, and has two very cool attractions. Maritiman is a naval museum with a large collection of warships and commercial vessels, including a submarine. The greatest thing? you cand roam all of them freely inside and out.

Aeroseum is a former underground air force base turned flight museum. Once again, you can roam freely around all sorts of military jets and even get inside the cockpit for a closer look and feel (including playing with the worn-out gear and all). It doesn't get much cooler than that.

I also liked the 8 km-long Oresund Bridge connecting Sweden to Denmark - an impressive feat of egineering.
