Transalpina and Transfagarasan
Romania’s most scenic driving routes are Transalpina and Transfagarasan, which I revisited this weekend. Also spent a night at Balea Lake, which was just magical. A few pictures added to the Wallachia album.
More wonders in Transylvania
I spent several days touring Transylvania and checking some more wonders that the region has to offer: the basalt columns at Detunata Goala, the ancient Roman mines at Rosia Montana, the wooden churches of Maramures and the fabulous ride on the Mocanita forest steam train. Pictures added to the updated Transylvania album.
South Africa: amazing
South Africa was an amazing experience. I visited Cape Town and the surrounding area and had a blast going on a safari, shark cage diving, exploring the fabulous Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope, enjoying the awesome food, and generally being amazed by the landscapes, people, flora and fauna. Check out some pictures […]
Magical New Zealand
I visited New Zealand and found it absolutely stunning with its beautiful and varied landscapes, cool people and tons of places to see and things to do. On the Northern Island I visited the magical Waitomo Glowworm Cave, the delightful Hobbiton movie set, the Wai-O-Tapu volcanic national park and the city of Wellington. On the […]
Sydney and Singapore
My first trip in the Southern Hemisphere included Sydney and New Zealand. Sydney is a cool and amazing city which has it all: the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, impressive architecture, stilish and relaxed people, pretty girls, fabulous food, good shopping, nice parks and beaches, cool activities, Australia’s native wildlife on display […]
At the European Space Agency
Took a brief trip to the Netherlands to attend the open day event at ESTEC, one of the most important centres of the European Space Agency. ESTEC had tons of cool space stuff on display: presentations and models of ESA’s most important missions (including the world famous Rosetta mission that landed on a comet, the […]
Back to Switzerland
Returned to Switzerland for a quick three-day trip. I stayed in Geneva, did a tour of CERN / the Large Hadron Collider, re-visited Gruyeres and the HR Giger Museum, took in the fabulous green landscapes outside of the city and had a very relaxing trip. Check out some pictures in my updated Switzerland album:
Quick relaxing trip to Bulgaria
Bulgaria has some nice, cheap and unpretentious beaches which I decided to visit on an extended weekend trip. Spent several days in Albena and also visited Golden Sands, the scenic Cape Kaliakra and the gorgeous botanical gardens in Balchik. Check out several pictures in the new Bulgaria album:
Fabulous Nera Gorges
The Nera Gorges National Park in Romania is absolutely fabulous, presenting picture-perfect waterfalls and lakes, and cool forest hiking routes. You can also enjoy an old-fashioned forest train ride between the towns of Anina and Oravita, on Romania’s first railway track. Check out some pictures in the updated Wallachia album:
Florida and the Bahamas
I returned to the US for the first time in eight years to visit Florida and some of its top attractions – Kennedy Space Center (for viewing the launch of the Orion EFT-1 mission), Disneyworld, SeaWorld, Key West and Miami Beach.
