If you're looking for cheap, nice and unpretentious beach holidays, Bulgaria might just be the place to go. I visited the seaside resorts of Albena and Golden Sands located in the Northwestern part of the country for brief but relaxing trips. Other attractions in the area include the pretty botanical gardens in Balchick and the scenic Cape Kaliakra. A stop at the Dalboka Mussel Farm might also be worth your while. I also stayed at the Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort - a nice and relaxing experience (also visited the nearby Thracian Cliffs and Blacksearama resorts).

Bansko is a nice resort in the mountains, check it out if you're into skiing. The nearby Rila Monastery is beautiful and worth visiting.
