Qatar
In Qatar I visited the capital of Doha, a clean and modern city with good food and a number of interesting sites and attractions that are easily accessible by metro.
The Museum of Islamic Arts is housed in a striking building and displays a vast and very nice art and history collection from the Islamic world. Fanar Mosque is another interesting building and has become a symbol of Doha.
Souq Waqif is a fun area filled with shops, bars and restaurants where you can enjoy delicious food, while Katara Cultural Village offers even more dining options and access to the beach. A walk along the Corniche at night, enjoying the city's skyline, is another good option.
Doha features many interesting urban sculptures. I particularly enjoyed The Miraculous Jouney by Damien Hirst and The Force of Nature II by Lorenzo Quinn. And don't miss the very nice Orchard in-door garden at Doha Airport.
