A pleasant surprise – the island of Gran Canaria

I visited the Spanish island of Gran Canaria for a few days and was very pleasantly surprised. While its beach resorts are nice and clean (but rather generic), the island’s real beauty lies away from the cities and resorts. While driving around and exploring the interior you’ll encounter beautiful mountains and valleys, the island’s trademark red volcanic landscapes and fantastic desert vegetation everywhere you look. You could spend days exploring and never tire.
